Does it seem to you that Jay Leno’s Tonight Show after all the fuss between him and Conan Obrien is still running on a stripped timing chain? When the Olympics were over and Jay returned to the Tonight Show in its usual time slot, it was not so bad. Jay had some good guests and his opening skit wasn’t too bad either. But since the first week or two of it, I think the gig would be best put to rest and Jimmy Falon’s show ought to run for an hour. Jimmy is a bit more hip, and not as boring. Of course in both camps seems like some writers are asleep at the wheel. Not blowing my own horn here, but I did better on my cable access TV show in Pocatello. Added to that I wasn’t making the multi millions Jay is neither. So could it be improved ? Yes of course, everything can. Problem is Jay Leno has gotten a too swelled head and ain’t listening. At least to viewers. The people who watch the show are the real end point. As such if your going to retain ad bucks ya’ll ought to be doing something that retains viewers and thus sell product, or bag the gig , NBC, and get something else going on there. Let’s face it the Tonight Show will never be what it was with Johnny Carson, but I beg Jay, shit at least try. All I can say is thank God for Internet TV.
NBC itself is having problems as well. Right now, NBC has only a very few real staples that keep it in the life of a TV network. One of which is the new series called Parenthood. Which I think has the best cast I have seen put together in years at least on OTA TV. OTA TV is loosing a battle, and yet there is nobody willing to jump in to save it.
Just more of a market for SSX/SAMCRO TV.
